This was reported by several American media, among others Fox News and Houston Chronicle.

The boy was out with his mother and sister (8) to shop for his sister’s birthday party in Harris County, Texas. When they returned home, the mother and daughter must have entered the house, before the mother two to three hours later noticed that the son was not indoors.

– She ran out and discovered that he was still strapped in his seat belt. The death occurred while the family was preparing to celebrate their daughter’s birthday, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

The sheriff writes on his Twitter account that the boy was found dead on the spot.

The mother is said to have told the police that the child knew how to take off the seat belt and get out of the car.

The incident happened in the US state of Texas, where it has been heat wave lately. In the Houston area, it was just under 38 degrees on Monday.

In May, a ten-month-old child lost his life after being left in a hot car outside a home in Houston, writes Houston Chronicle.
