Box Office Update: ‘Fighter’ Exhibits Slowdown After Strong Opening Weekend
Monday Collections Witness a Decline
Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Fighter’ had a phenomenal start at the box office, raking in a massive Rs 120 crore during its extended opening weekend. However, the film’s business seems to be tapering off as the holiday weekend concludes.
Early estimates indicate that on Monday, ‘Fighter’ recorded an advance booking of Rs 1.75 crore in its fifth day of release. This figure, primarily obtained from morning shows, reveals that a major chunk of the collection, around Rs 97.27 lakh, comes from 2D screenings. In contrast, the 3D version contributed around Rs 6.77 lakh, while the IMAX 3D version earned approximately Rs 5.98 lakh.
Box Office Performance and Weekend Collections
It’s not uncommon for films to experience drop in collections on Mondays. Some, however, manage to maintain a steady momentum during their second weekend. In the case of ‘Fighter’, it opened to an impressive collection of Rs 22.5 crore on its first day, witnessed a significant rise on the second day with Rs 39.5 crore, and despite a slight dip on Saturday with Rs 27.5 crore, the film concluded its opening weekend with a collection of Rs 28.50 crore.
Ongoing Dominance at the Box Office
‘Fighter’ enjoyed the advantage of being the sole release during the Republic Day weekend. With no major releases scheduled for February 2, except for the Hollywood film ‘Argylle’ featuring Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dua Lipa, and Catherine O’Hara, ‘Fighter’ is expected to continue dominating the box office unopposed.
Impressive Performance Internationally
Despite the relatively slower start on Monday, ‘Fighter’ has left a mark on the international stage as well. The film secured the 6th spot on the list of the highest-earning films at the US box office during the weekend, contributing an estimated $3.7 million to the domestic box office. Notably, ‘Fighter’ has also amassed an impressive global box office collection of $25.1 million.

A number of Bollywood celebrities, including Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Anil Kapoor, and Farah Khan, amongst others, attended the special screening of ‘Fighter’.
