Bosz with Leverkusen simply past Werder Bremen in first game since March | NOW

Bayer Leverkusen has convincingly won its first Bundesliga game since March 7. The team of trainer Peter Bosz was in the Weserstadion closed to the public with 1-4 too strong for Werder Bremen.

The first three hits fell in a five-minute timeframe. Kai Havertz gave Leverkusen the lead with a headstrong header in the 28th minute and again hit the target five minutes later, just after Theodor Gebre Selassie’s equalizer.

Mitchell Weiser headed in the 1-3 fifteen minutes after the break and ended the game. Kerem Demirbay widened the margin to three in the 78th minute, allowing Leverkusen to continue the unbeaten streak without a hitch.

The Bosz team has now not lost eleven official games in a row and is fifth on eight points from league-leader Bayern Munich. Werder Bremen is still waiting for the first victory since January 18 and is the number seventeen to fear direct relegation.

Werder Bremen-Bayer Leverkusen was the culmination of the 26th round in the Bundesliga, which was resumed as the first major football competition in the world on Saturday (under strict conditions). Audience is not allowed, players are not allowed to hug each other after a goal and players on the bench must wear face masks.

At Leverkusen, Daley Sinkgraven was at the kick-off, but most attention was focused on the starting spot of Florian Wirtz. The midfielder is the third youngest player ever to make minutes in the Bundesliga at 17 years and 15 days.

Only Nuri Sahin (16 years, 335 days in August 2005) and Yann Bisseck (16 years, 362 days in November 2017) were younger than Wirtz, who was substituted for Karim Bellarabi in the 62nd minute.

With captain Niklas Moisander and striker Milot Rashica, two former Eredivisie players were kicking off at Werder Bremen. Former Ajax player Davy Klaassen had to let the duel with his old coach Bosz pass him by a suspension.
