This year the Rolling Stones celebrated the 40th anniversary of their album Tattoo You by releasing a remastered version. The robot demonstrates its agility by reproducing the movements of Mick Jagger in the song’s music video. Even though he’s a quadruped, Spot manages to imitate the singer’s gestures while performing playback with his hand. In total, four copies of the robot reproduce each member of the group.
A way to improve the image of the robot
Bought this year by the Korean company Hyundai, Boston Dynamics regularly publishes videos of the performance of its robots. We already got to see Spot dancing to the song IONIQ: I’m On It of the BTS group, or on Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. The firm also released a video of its humanoid robot Atlas performing of parkour, and celebrated the New Year with all of his robots dancing on Do You Love Me from The Contours.
These videos allow the manufacturer to show the progress made by his robots, which are more and more agile. They also serve as a challenge for engineers, who must integrate new movements and optimize the programming of the device.
