Bosch Rodez Plant Disappointment and Anger: No Alternative to Suspended Project – Announced by Vice-President Beate Grota in December 12 statements

Between disappointment and anger. The statements of Beate Grota, vice-president of Bosch Powertrain Solutions, the division to which the Bosch plant in Rodez (Aveyron) is attached, on December 12, before the factory staff meeting, are far from reassuring employees on the future and sustainability of the industrial site. Accompanied by Heiko Carrie, president of Bosch Western and Southern Europe, Beate Grota announced no alternative to the FresH2 project, suspended indefinitely in June 2023. This aimed to industrialize a new system on the Aveyron site supply of electrical energy running on hydrogen dedicated to refrigeration units which equip temperature-controlled road transport semi-trailers.

The project provided a major avenue of diversification for this industrial site historically focused on production linked almost exclusively to diesel vehicles. The new activity alone was expected to mobilize 170 people by 2025 in Rodez and 230 by the end of 2028, or not far from half of the workforce that the German group has committed to maintaining on the site by this time frame.
