Interview without permission, suspension for policeman; Aishwarya Rai again with controversial action

Kochi: Kochi DCP Aishwarya Dongre again with controversial action. Civil police officer CP Raghu has been suspended for taking the initiative to set up a coffee machine at Kalamassery police station. The action was taken for inaugurating the coffee machine and giving an interview to the media without informing the superiors.

The Narcotics Cell Assistant Commissioner has been tasked with conducting a detailed investigation into the allegations against the policeman, including money laundering. However, police said the move was prompted by anger over not inviting the DCP to the inauguration ceremony.

The suspension comes amid congratulations for the implementation of a scheme to provide tea, biscuits and cold water to those arriving at the station to make a police station more people-friendly for the first time in the state. Earlier, when the Kovid scare was rampant, the Kalamassery police station was a model for feeding the homeless and stray dogs.

Earlier, the Kochi DCP had taken controversial action against a woman police officer who had stopped in front of a police station without recognizing the new DCP who had reached the mafthi. The action was taken against a woman policewoman at the Ernakulam North police station. The provocation was that the DCP, who had reached the Mufti after taking charge, was stopped by a policewoman and sought information. Despite explaining that the check was routinely carried out due to Kovid restrictions and that he was not identified as he had reached the Mufti, the policewoman was transferred from her job to traffic. The move by the DCP was also controversial.
