Bosch and UMinho invest 26 million in new project and create 38 jobs

Bosch Car Multimédia, in consortium with the University of Minho, will develop a research and development (R&D) project that will represent an investment of 26.3 million euros and foresees the creation of 38 jobs.

The information can be found in an order published this Monday in Diário da República and approving the final draft of the investment agreement between the two entities and the Portuguese Investment and Foreign Trade Agency (AICEP), representing the Portuguese State. .

According to the document, given its macroeconomic impact, it is considered that the project – called “Factory of the Future” – “meets the necessary conditions for granting financial incentives for the major investment projects”.

The R&D project aims to generate new scientific and technological knowledge for the development of industrialization solutions, production and quality control of new systems, products and components for the automotive industry, with applications in the different stages of production of the company’s factory located in Braga. and to increase their levels of productivity, efficiency and quality.

“Factory of the Future aims to increase the competitiveness of Bosch Car Multimedia, SA, to attract major new product industrialization projects within the Bosch Group’s Car Multimedia division, thus contributing positively to the national trade balance through of exports generated by these new products, ”it reads.

This focus on future factory-oriented R&D may also give rise to increased investments in this area by other national companies through the dissemination and valorisation of project results, he adds.

With this project, Bosch Car Multimedia is expected to hire “31 new staff with a higher level VI qualification and, by the University of Minho, 69 research fellows and 7 new staff with the same or higher qualification”. at level VII ”.

The project is part of a results dissemination plan that confirms the commitment of Bosch Car Multimedia and the University of Minho to promote, disseminate and disseminate them, both to the scientific and technological community, as well as to potential sectors and interested companies, In this context, the use of professional digital networks, websites, newsletters, videos and promotional brochures were highlighted.

According to the document, “It is also important to emphasize the relevance of the organization of scientific events that allow the sharing and dissemination of results with stakeholders. The project is part of the contractual investment regime regulated by Decree-Law 191/2014, of 31st December, and under the terms provided for in paragraph a) of no. Competitiveness and Internationalization field because it is a large project whose total eligible cost is 10 million euros or more and is of particular interest to the national economy because of its structuring effect on economic development, diversification and internationalization. and / or sectors of activity, regions and areas considered strategic.

The order was signed by the Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition, Pedro Siza Vieira, and the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias.
