Alexander Boricic was re-elected to the European Volleyball Confederation on Friday (CEV) as President.

At the CEV General Assembly in Vienna, Boričič received 36 delegate votes, but the candidate, former Estonian politician and President of the Latvian Neighboring Volleyball Federation Hanno Pevkur, had almost half as many or 19 votes.

Boricic was elected President of CEV in 2015 and has been President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) since then. Prior to that, from 1992 to 2016, he led the volleyball federations of Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro, and Serbia.

This time, none of the Latvian representatives was elected to the board and under the leadership of CEV. For the past five years, one of CEV’s vice presidents has been Maris Pekalis.
