Artūrs Skrastiņš has been playing on the stage of Daile Theater for 25 years. Since the legendary Beysik’s “Fate Mill”, various film roles have appeared, including the main role in the film “Father’s Night”. Now the book “Artūrs Skrastiņa Spogulija” has been made. Its author is theater critic Līvija Dūmiņa.
“At the time, I was working in a non-cultural and non-theatrical workplace, I really lacked theatrical, creative work, and I thought I could write a book.

“We agreed at the beginning, and it was also his attitude that it is not worth it if we are not open and honest,” says Livija Dūmiņa.
“He told things quite openly, and I even thought so – really, and I will be able to write it. Because I have experience as a journalist when I am told but say: but it is not for publication. Explaining the title of the book, Līvija Dūmiņa reveals that the idea of the mirror was clear quite quickly.
“When I started gathering materials together and composing, I realized that something wasn’t. It’s not going the way I liked. At one point I realized that all the characters he played are alive, and they’re all in that room, in that ‘mirror.’ “Not everyone, but they started to react to me, some hid, some came very bravely, some I had to look for a lot. Interestingly, the book is complemented not only by photographs, but also drawings. The artist of the book is Ilze Vītoliņa.
In the book, Līvija Dūmiņa talks more about the roles of Artūrs Skrastiņš in theater, less – about cinema, because she admits that she is not a film specialist. The book is also complemented by various everyday stories, which also show a slightly evangelical Artūrs Skrastiņš, whom we do not know at all.
“His initial desire when we started talking about the book and fantasizing about what it could be like, he said he’d like it to be like an adventure novel.
Which I didn’t promise him, but the adventures he shared, of course, we included them, because it’s just a very interesting story. Also, the way he presents it is, in my opinion, very engaging to read, “admits Līvija Dūmiņa.
Livija Dūmija’s book “Artūra Skrastiņa Spogulija” has been published by “Zvaigzne ABC”. The opening ceremony of the book will take place on September 28 at the Daile Theater.
