Bolivia’s legal team delivered its arguments on Tuesday to reject the Chilean lawsuit over the waters of the Silala, indicating that our country has recognized Bolivian sovereignty over said channel.

The Bolivian legal team developed this Tuesday the second round of oral arguments and counterclaims for the status and use of the waters of the Silala River, before the International Court of Justice in The Hague in the Netherlands.

Let us remember that the Bolivian agent, Roberto Calzadilla Sarmiento, accused Chile of trying to create the impression that it is a victim of a violation of an international obligation.

Rodman Bundy, an American lawyer and expert in international law, pointed out that Bolivia on several occasions called Chile to visit the area.

Mathias Forteau, a French lawyer and professor of Public Law, maintained that during the first day of arguments the Chilean defense would have recognized that Bolivia has sovereignty over the channel.

Tomorrow, Chile’s observations on the Bolivian counterclaim will be made and on Thursday, April 8, will be the questioning of the experts presented by our country.
