Angers equalize against Grenoble

Beaten in Match 1 on Tuesday, the Ducs d’Angers responded to the Brûleurs de Loups with a victory over the ice of Grenoble (1-3) in the second round. The Angevins take the opportunity to regain the advantage of the field in the final of the Magnus League.

The suspense remains in the final of the Magnus League. While Grenoble took the lead by taking advantage of the home field this Tuesday in Match 1, Angers responded tac-au-tac, still at Polesud, on the occasion of the second round. A Match 2 which started strong with the opener in the 9th minute. Alone, Maurin Bouvet played the defense of the Burners of Wolves and went to deceive Jakub Stepanek to give the advantage to the Dukes.

However, it did not take more than five minutes to see the Grenoble residents react and come back up. With Flavian Dair and Adel Koudri in charge, Peter Valier victoriously concluded the offensive sequence from Isère, sending Evan Cowley to seek the puck in his net for the first… and last time of the match. After a second goalless period, the match got carried away at the start of the last period.

Halley gives victory to Angers

And it was Philippe Halley who put the Dukes into orbit during this Match 2. Launched by Tommy Giroux in the 43rd minute, the Quebecer got the better of Jakub Stepanek before doing it again two and a half minutes later. This time, Jerret Smith and Kévin Dusseau were behind the break made by Angers. In the last two minutes, the Burners of Wolves tried everything to get back into the game, bringing out their goalkeeper to play on the power play.

A daring tactic that didn’t pay off. Angers won on the ice of Grenoble (1-3) to come back high in the series and reverse the dynamic in this final of the Magnus League. Indeed, of the five matches that remain to be played, three will be at the IceParc, including the next two this Saturday and then this Sunday. The opportunity for the Dukes to make a difference.
