Body fluid came out the wrong opening

“A strange case of rectal ejaculation.”

This is what the doctors who treated it called a very startling case: a 33-year-old American man who had had great pain in his testicles for five days and sought help.

It turned out that for two years the man had urinated feces and sent what the doctors describe as a “significant amount” of urine and semen, into the rectum.

The most unusual condition is described in the medical journal Cureus.

Frank L. Ventura, Christopher M. Nguyen, Alexander Dang, Michelle Baliss and Lindsay K. Sonstein at the University of Texas Medical Branch write that further investigations showed that the man had an infection in the urethra.

A rectal examination showed that there were problems with the man’s rectal wall.

A CT scan showed he had one fistula, ie an open channel, between the urethra and the rectum.

The fistula caused the man’s body fluids and feces to pass between the urethra and the rectum, and this was the reason why urine and feces came out in the wrong body openings.

Injured in overdose coma

Further investigations showed that the man had been in a coma for three weeks two weeks after taking an overdose of cocaine and phensyclidine.

He then got a so-called Foley-catheter, and it must have been when the damage between the urethra and the rectum occurred.

– Repeated cystouretrography removed the fistula, the doctors write, and says that the man was completely healthy again after a few months.

Doctors conclude that Foley catheters are important in healthcare, but that doctors need to be aware of potential – and rare – complications that may occur afterwards.

“This case not only focuses on a rare complication after catheter use, but also emphasizes the importance of healthcare professionals’ focus when using seemingly simple treatments, such as Foley catheters,” they write.
