BNN – NEWS WITH VALUE »Spain bans capital from COVID-19 due to prevalence

Spain, the EU country with the fastest prevalence of COVID-19, has introduced partial quarantine in the capital Madrid, reports British news portal The Guardian.

On Wednesday, September 30, the 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 infections per 100,000 population in Spain reached 330.2. For comparison, in Latvia, where the prevalence of the virus is the lowest in the EU, this indicator was 12.9, according to data compiled by the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

As the virus is currently most prevalent in Spain in the capital, Madrid, and the region around it, the Spanish government said on Wednesday that residents of the capital would be barred from leaving it unless the person had the opportunity to cancel the trip.
