One day after the knife attack in Würzburg, the city is still in shock. A 24-year-old Somali attacked passers-by with a knife. Currently, three people have not survived the attack.
The police confirmed in the late morning that five seriously injured people are still being treated in hospitals. The condition of two of these people is “still life-threatening”. Two slightly injured people have since left the hospital.
The Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder has in the meantime commented on the incident in Würzburg. He called the events “incredible and shocking”. At the same time, he thanked the citizens who stood in the way of the alleged attacker. That was “a very impressive commitment”.
“All of Bavaria is mourning today,” said Söder. “We mourn with the victims. We fear, pray and hope with the injured and their relatives. ”The Prime Minister ordered mourning flags throughout the Free State of Bavaria. It is valid from today for three days up to and including Monday, June 28th. The order applies to all government offices in Bavaria.
Update from June 25, 2021 at 10 p.m.: Blood deed in Würzburg – little boy among the victims
Several people were killed and injured in the knife attack in the city center. The Würzburg police have now confirmed this. Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann is now on site. According to him, there is also a young boy among the injured. According to Interior Secretary Gerhard Eck, ten people were seriously injured.
There are currently no reliable findings about the motive for the crime. The suspect is a 24-year-old man from Somalia, as the Main Post reports. A police helicopter is currently circling over Würzburg. However, there is no longer any danger for the local people.

Then passers-by try to stop the alleged perpetrator with chairs and a stick. More than 20 people follow the attacker. A police car appears.
According to Interior Secretary Gerhard Eck, the suspect was struck down with a “straight bullet”.

According to media reports, several people were injured in the violent crime in Würzburg. “Main Post” and “Bildzeitung” speak of at least three dead and six people, some of whom were seriously injured.
