Blocking-Kicking Journalists, Thugs in Medan Arrested

A thug, Jay Sangker alias Rakes, was arrested after allegedly blocking and kicking a journalist who was covering the pre-reconstruction case of two members DPRD Medan allegedly mistreating residents. The man was charged with the Press Law.

“The suspect Rakes is subject to Article 18 of Law Number 40 of 1999 Concerning the Press and Article 335 of the Criminal Code paragraph 1,” said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Medan Police, Commissioner Teuku Fathir Mustafa, as quoted by Antara. detikSumatraTuesday (28/2/2023).

Rakes is a resident of Paya Geli Village, Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency. Rakes confronted and kicked journalists on Monday (27/2).

At that time, Rakes was blocking the pre-reconstruction coverage. Rakes admitted that he did not accept that his younger brother was a witness when the pre-reconstruction pictures were taken.

Fathir said Rakes committed a criminal act of prohibiting doing something with threats of violence. The victims were a number of journalists.
