Medan, CNN Indonesia

North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General of Police Panca Putra Simanjuntak was furious when he heard the news that his member, also surnamed Simanjuntak, was blackmailing him motorists IDR 200 thousand.

“Me check the handling of the Polrestabes related to the viral presence of members of the Delitua Police who carried out the modus operandi of blackmailing the public. Blackmail, I said blackmail. By pretending to commit a violation,” said Panca at the Medan Polrestabes, Friday (12/11).

Panca was even more irritated after learning that the police officer suspected of extorting had the same name as Bripka Panca Simanjuntak.

“His name is Panca Simanjuntak. Wow, I was really angry earlier. You pack Simanjuntak has the same name,” he said.

Panca asked the Medan Police Chief Kombes Pol Riko Sunarko to give the police officers severe sanctions, not only disciplinary sanctions but also a code of ethics including criminal.

“Members like this injure the good name of the Polri organization, we must take firm action. The person concerned is placed in a cell. The legal process is not only disciplined but also a code of ethics including criminal,” he said.

The actions of these individuals, Panca added, have harmed the good name of the National Police. Even though there are still many Polri personnel who carry out their duties well and really work to serve the community.

“I have ordered the Chief of Police to be given strict sanctions. I ask that the process be completed. There are still many good members of the Police who work from morning to night to serve the community,” he said.

Panca also apologized to the public because there were still violations committed by members of the Police. However, Panca admitted that he would give strict sanctions to police officers who violated the law.

“I apologize to the public if there are still members of the National Police who commit violations like this. But don’t hesitate, trust me. And I will act decisively,” he explained.

Panca also asked the public to participate in monitoring. “Now people are getting smarter. If the members are wrong, we can’t be half-hearted. We have to be firm,” he explained.

Previously, a man in a police uniform was beaten by a passer-by on Jalan dr Mansyur, Medan Sunggal sub-district, Thursday (11/11/21) afternoon. The incident began when a woman riding a motorcycle was grabbed by the police.

The police officer then asked for the woman’s STNK and driver’s license. A number of residents who were in the vicinity of the incident had also heard the person asking the driver for money. People came right away.

Then the residents asked the person to show the National Police KTA (membership card). However, the police officer was scared and tried to run away on his motorbike. Residents who saw it made furious and immediately arrested him while shouting ‘fake police’.

The person was then swarmed by a mob which jammed the Dr. Mansyur Medan road. The angry residents then dragged the man to the security guard post. It was later discovered that the man was a member of the Delitua Police Station who served at the SPKT.
