The bridal couple Jordan Simanjuntak and Johana Dwi Utama made crypto- as mahar at their wedding. Mas kawin given in the form of 1.11 pieces bitcoin equivalent to Rp. 719 million.
The value of bitcoin that Jordan gave to Johana was adjusted to their wedding date, which is December 11, 2021, which will be held in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta.
The groom admitted that he had been accumulating bitcoin digital coins as an investment vehicle since early 2019.
Jordan, who works as a Business Development Manager at Triv.co.id, a crypto asset trading company registered and supervised by BAPPEBTI, said that in 2019 the price of 1 bitcoin was around Rp. 64 million. However, at the moment they got married the value had reached more than IDR 700 million per coin.
“By giving this dowry to my wife, I hope that my wife can continue the accumulation to later be given to our children and grandchildren,” Jordan said in a written statement, Sunday (12/19).
Jordan admitted that from the beginning he collected bitcoins from the Triv Exchange. Currently, he and Johana regularly invest in crypto assets.
“Whenever there is income, we always do DCA (dollar cost averaging), we divide our portfolio into 90/10. 90 percent for bitcoin, and 10 percent for other coins that we like,” explained Jordan.
Meanwhile, Joana admitted that she was very happy with the unexpected dowry.
“I’m really excited (interested). I’m also actually a fan of the metaverse and have a portfolio of metaverse coins on Triv,” he said.
As for Triv CEO Gabriel Rey, he said his party is very happy to know that there is a young couple who make bitcoin as dowry.
“Young couples do fit the risk profile of aggressive investment. Therefore, it is very appropriate for them to choose bitcoin as a means of mutual investment which happens to be manifested in their dowry,” he said.
