Bill seeks to make vaccination against Covid-19 mandatory

The representative to the Chamber, Ricardo Ferro, filed a bill by means of which vaccination against Covid-19 would be mandatory for all Colombians.

For the Uribe representative, who was the author of the law that endorsed the application of the vaccine to be free, this is a public health issueto that it involves all Colombians.

Even Ferro pointed out that “A person who does not get vaccinated is a potential murderer, because it can infect another human being who may end up losing his life on account of this contagion “.

One of the arguments of the congressman is that, while a large part of the citizens is already in a reinforcement stage, there are others who have not even started their vaccination scheme and this would generate different public health risks, like a new peak and confinements.

According to the representative, the project raises a kind of “Confinement” for those who decide not to apply the medicine, that is to say, that it could not attend in public spaces.

Ricardo Ferro recalled that a vaccine costs the government about 260,000 pesos, while every day in the ICU of a patient with Covid-19 is worth more than eight million pesos, without this implying that he is guaranteed that his life will be saved.

In Colombia, almost 52 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, according to data from the Ministry of Health as of November 15.

Between March 2020 and August 31, 2021, 168,502,362 health care services were carried out in Colombia, both for Covid-19 and non-covid, with the application of Resolution 521 of 2020 of that portfolio.
