Bilateral Bids Awarded Hosting Honors for UEFA’s 2028 and 2032 European Nations Cup

UEFA returns to granting bilateral bids the honor of organizing the 2028 and 2032 editions. The choice was not difficult this time at the announcement level after the Turkish bid withdrew from the 2028 edition, leaving the room for Britain and Ireland to win it, which is something that applies to the Italian-Turkish bid for the year 2032.

The European Football Association (UEFA) on Tuesday granted Britain and Ireland the honor of hosting the 2028 European Nations Cup, and Turkey and Italy the 2032 edition.

The Executive Committee’s decision was expected, especially after Turkey’s withdrawal and exclusion of the Russian file, which surprised everyone when it announced its desire in March 2022 to host one of the two versions, a few days after it invaded Ukraine, before UEFA excluded its clubs from its competitions and thus refused to receive its nomination file. As a reminder, the Continental Football Association announced its reversal of the decision to allow Russian youth teams to return to its competitions.

England returns to embracing the most important continental competition at the national team level after an absence of 32 years, and its best results remain its achievement of second place in the 2020 edition, which was held in eleven different cities after losing to the Italian national team after resorting to penalty kicks.

The number of ten stadiums will host the 2028 European Cup finals, which will be divided between England, the Republic of Ireland, its northern neighbor, Scotland and Wales.

It is noteworthy that Germany will host the next edition of the continental championship from June 14 to July 14.
