No click day, apparently. Unlike what has been aired in recent weeks, the bike bonus (here you will find the list of those who can request it) allocated by the Conte Government to restart consumption, in a green perspective in this case through the purchase of bicycles, also with pedal assistance, scooters, segways and hoverboards with zero environmental impact, it should be delivered without going through a unified procedure via the web in the same day, which would have caused slowdowns to the web system or blockages to the site itself.
Environment Minister Sergio Costa at L’aria che pulla su La7 has announced a new allocation for the bike bonus of 70 million euros, which will add to the 120 million already foreseen by the Relaunch Decree. The 190 million euros should be sufficient, in the ministry’s forecast, to cover all requests. The figure could even rise by another 10 million, reaching 200 million in total.
In fact, one of the problems of these weeks connected to the bike bonus has been the lack of bikes in the shops. Bicycles literally snapped up (there was a + 60% compared to the same period of 2019) because many Italians were quick to buy it, since the bonus also applies to vehicles already purchased starting from 4 May 2020.
How the bike bonus works
The portal and the relative application of the Ministry of the Environment will be activated shortly, through which it will be possible to obtain the bonus up to 500 euros, both for purchases already made and for those to be made by the end of the year. To access the application SPID credentials are required (Public Digital Identity System).
The refund will take place in two stages:
- Phase 1 (from May 4, 2020 until the day the web application starts): in the first phase, the citizen will be reimbursed for 60% of the expenditure. To obtain the contribution, it is necessary to keep the expense document (and attention is needed for the invoice, the receipt is not enough) and attach it to the application to be submitted through the web application.
- Phase 2 (from the day the web application starts operating): in the second phase, the citizen will pay the participating merchant directly 40% and the participating merchant will receive a 60% refund. The reimbursement will take place within the limits of the available resources. The direct discount from the supplier works thanks to a digital shopping voucher that the beneficiaries can generate on the app. Interested parties must indicate on the web application the medium or service they intend to purchase and the platform will generate the digital shopping voucher to be delivered to authorized suppliers to collect the bike or enjoy the service identified.
What can you buy with the bike bonus
The mobility bonus can be requested only once and for the purchase of only one good or service among those listed below:
- new or used bicycles, both traditional and pedal assisted;
- new or used handbikes;
- new or used vehicles for personal mobility with mainly electric propulsion (scooters, hoverboards, segways);
- shared mobility services for individual use excluding those by car.
