Big Stars and Premieres at This Year’s Tribeca Film Festival – NBC New York (47)

June marks the return of some of New York City’s iconic summer events, and this year is no different. With a 12-day lineup of brilliant premieres and immersive experiences, the Tribeca Film Festival returns with a mix of in-person and virtual events for everyone.

The festival kicks off with the debut of “Halftime,” a documentary coming to Netflix June 14 that takes a behind-the-scenes look at superstar Jennifer Lopez. Another New York native closes the festival. “Loudmouth” inspects Reverend Al Sharpton’s public works.

With the premiere of more than 100 films to New York audiences throughout the city, as well as the festival’s virtual platform, the Tribeca Festival continues its legacy as a champion of cinema. But that’s not all at this year’s festival.

Festival goers will find exclusive meetups, talks, early previews of upcoming TV shows, and immersive experiences. Tribeca Festival takes place June 8-19, with a mix of ticketed and free events.

Tribeca At Home, the festival’s virtual arm offering an experience from the comfort of your own home, runs from June 9-26. Virtual offerings include short films as well as narrative and documentary films shown exclusively for American audiences.

Stars like Taylor Swift and Robert de Niro will also be present. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter will screen “All Too Well: The Short Film” and host a conversation after speaking about her work as a filmmaker.

De Niro, co-founder of the festival, will join Al Pacino and director Michael Mann for a screening of “Heat” followed by a conversation. Pacino is pulling double duty at this year’s festival. He is also scheduled to present a remastered version of “The Godfather” in honor of the film’s 50th anniversary.

Pharrell Williams, Cynthia Erivo, Seth Meyers, Aidy Bryant, Tig Notaro, W. Kamau Bell, Steve Aoki, Seth Green, Tyler Perry, Gayle King, Adam McKay and many more will feature additional talks and meetups.
