Austria currently holds a 7-day incidence of 231.26. At the beginning of March, when the tentative opening options were decided, it was just 159.59.
Vienna now has the highest value among all federal states. There were 314 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants in the past 7 days. In Lower Austria there were 257 cases.
So there is little left of the confidence of the past few weeks when the federal government and governors are again discussing the next steps in the Federal Chancellery.
“We must have the courage to pull the emergency brake in individual regions that are particularly badly affected,” said Health Minister Rudolf Anschober on Sunday. In other words: Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland and Salzburg in particular are likely to tighten.
