President of the U.S.A Joe Biden threatened Russia with unprecedented sanctions in the event of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

He said this on press conferences in the White House.

Sanctions in the event of an invasion of Ukraine

Biden said he personally warned Putin and made clear the scope of these sanctions during their talks.

“He has never dealt with the kind of sanctions that I promised to impose if he takes this step,” Biden said.

The President of the United States noted that the United States had prepared a “so painful” package of sanctions that it had never been used against Russia before.

“If they’re going to invade, they’re going to pay for it. Their banks won’t be able to handle dollars… It’s going to be a disaster for Russia,” Biden said.

At the same time, Biden noted that the scale of these sanctions will depend on what exactly Putin decides on – a full-scale invasion or a local operation.

On the likelihood of an attack on Ukraine

Joseph Biden is sure that Putin does not want war with the West and has not yet finally decided whether or not to attack Ukraine. The US President thinks that Putin wants to test the readiness of the US and NATO.

“I still believe that Putin does not want a full-scale war. But I know that he will pay a big and serious price if he does not change his mind now. And I think he will regret this decision all his life” Biden said.

The American president assured that the US would not reduce its military presence in Europe.
