Former US Vice President Joe Biden has formally agreed to run for office in the upcoming United States presidential election in November on Thursday.
“It is with great honor and humility that I accept this nomination [kandidēšanai] to the presidency of the United States, ”said Biden, addressing the party’s National Convention.
He noted that the United States is currently going through one of the most difficult periods, as it has to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, the economic downturn, inter-racial contradictions and climate change.
“These elections will change lives. It sets out what America will look like long, long after, ”said the Democratic candidate, who will face Donald Trump, the current owner of the White House, in November.
Biden said Trump was unable to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic, warning that “the number of infections and deaths would still be too high in the event of his re-election.”
In turn, in the event of his victory, he will implement a strategy from the first day as president, which will allow to control the pandemic.
If Trump remains in office, the US economy will continue to suffer, although the rich will become richer, said the Democratic candidate for the high office.
He stressed that Trump had failed to protect the Americans.
