US President Joe Biden erroneously announced in a speech Tuesday that The United States has delivered Javelin anti-tank missile systems of Russia, not Ukraine. The president’s speech was broadcast by the Washington Post.
“Before Russia invaded, we made sure it had Javelin and other weapons to strengthen its defenses so that Ukraine would be ready no matter what happened,” Joe Biden said.
The US president made the statement during a visit to the Lockheed Martin plant in Alabama, where, among other things, the systems are manufactured. Javelin Systems are delivered to Kyiv by US authorities in the framework of bilateral agreements from the spring of 2018. Then Ukraine received 37 such systems and over 200 missiles.
