2021 has just started, and it is already time to think about definitive switch off of Digital Terrestrial to the DVB-T2 standard. After many discussions about it, over the next few months it will go live and outdated televisions will be blacked out. To continue watching free TV channels even after this “revolution”, it will be necessary have a compatible TV or decoder.

The dates are now official and, a few hours ago, new ones have come out relating to the blackout of the most popular channels by Italians: RAI and Mediaset. In fact, now we know when – region by region – citizens will have to say goodbye to the two broadcasters, subject to updating their device. Let’s see in detail new information.

Over the next few months, the Digital Terrestrial will switch off to standard DVB-T2, abandoning the current frequencies – which will switch to 5G – and forcing all Italians (who have not yet done so) to update their device. Among the broadcasters that will be blacked out in 2021, there are also RAI and Mediaset. As already known, the Government has decided to divide the entire Italian territory into 4 macro zones, which from time to time will undergo the change and will be forced to change TV or decoder to continue watching certain channels.
