This vigilance refers to data from the dry season for the last five years which has had an impact on drought in some areas of Jakarta.

According to DKI BPBD data, in the last five years or from 2017 to 2021, the dry season has an impact on drought.

To anticipate the drought, DKI Jakarta BPBD coordinates with mayors and regents to calculate the need for clean water, especially for people living in drought-prone areas and areas that have not been served by clean water networks.

“Especially with the Water Resources Service (SDA) and PD. PAM Jaya who are alerting the Water Treatment Plant (IPA) mobile and also water tank cars so that they are ready to meet the needs of clean water for Jakarta residents when there is a drought,” Isnawa said.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts the peak of the dry season will occur in July to September 2022.

In addition, a heat wave was also recorded in the last week on May 1-7 2022, which reached the highest heat of 36.1 degrees.

Sunny weather and a low level of cloud appearance make the sun’s rays on the earth’s surface hotter so that the temperature conditions felt by the community become quite hot during the day.

The public is also advised to check gas cylinders regularly to prevent leakage of gas cylinders that can trigger fires.

“We also need to anticipate the threat of catastrophic fires in buildings and settlements as a form of vigilance against the impact of drought in this dry season,” Isnawa said.
