Beware of Chikungunya Virus Starting to Attack Mojokerto City Residents, These Are the Symptoms

SURYA.co.id | MOJOKERTO – Dozens of residents in the Balongkrai neighborhood, Pulorejo sub-district, Pra soldierskulon sub-district, Mojokerto city are suspected of being infected with the Chikungunya Virus.

Data from the Health Office of Mojokerto City through the Puskesmas Stopping 13 people in the Balongkrai neighborhood, Pulorejo Village were allegedly infected with the Chikungunya virus.

Transmission of the Chikungunya virus through the Aedes Aegypti / Aedes Albopictus mosquito, a type of mosquito known to cause dengue fever.

Staff of PJU General Puskesmas Mstop, Arif Hartadi, said that his party received reports from the public and the Mosquito Nest Eradication Cadre (PSN) regarding the presence of the Chikungunya virus in the neighborhood.

“There are 13 people experiencing symptoms of chills and joint pain that lead to the Chikungunya virus,” he said, Wednesday (24/3/2021).

The residents suspected of being infected with the chikungunya virus are a married couple named Wahyudi (49) and Sulistyaning (50) in the Balongkrai neighborhood, Pulorejo Village, Prasatriakulon District.

They experience chikungunya-like symptoms ranging from joint pain to being unable to walk.

Of the 13 residents who experience symptoms of Chikungunya, now only Sulistyaning has not recovered.

“Meanwhile, the remaining 12 people have recovered and are still being monitored by doctors and nurses together with local PSN cadres,” said Arif.

According to him, his party would conduct a blood test on a resident named Sulistyaning who had symptoms similar to Chikungunya and
until now it has not recovered.

“There is one resident who still feels joint pain that makes it difficult to walk who has received treatment and the plan is to do a blood check tomorrow,” he explained.

He added, blood checks on local residents were carried out to ensure that the Chikungunya virus was present.

His party coordinates with the Mojokerto City Health Office in handling and anticipating the spread of the Chikungunya virus.

“The main measure for larva eradication is fogging, the last alternative because it is not recommended,” he explained.
