Between Gómez de la Serna and Zurbarán | Radio Aranda

The Aranda House of Culture today opens a photographic exhibition entitled ‘Bodegones y greguerías’. Isaac Martínez ‘Sacris’, a native of Zazuar and a Burgos resident, is the author of the 26 images that can be seen in the large room of this building until September 30.

The Burgos writer Oscar Esquivias highlights the “cheerful and playful spirit” that emanates from part of this exhibition, which reminiscent of the works of Ramón Gómez de la Serna, as visual greguerías. The riverside photographer reveals the secret soul of things through ingenious metaphors, combining unexpected elements and creating almost dreamlike images, many of them full of humor. This is the case of a computer mouse, tempted by the trap that portends a piece of cheese, or a roll of toilet paper from which a 50-euro bill appears. But there are also other philosophical compositions, such as that of an empty suitcase from which a mysterious light emanates, which could be that of the afterlife. “The concept is constant lighting and playing with the reading of objects, looking for the irony they have, the double meaning that each viewer can imagine; for example, the suitcase could be used to imagine the last trip of our life, to which you go lightly packed, as Machado said, and walk towards the light and others take it as something in which you can put countless desires ”, suggests the Author.

In the part corresponding to the still lifes, with his camera ‘Sacris’ reflects in some way the spirit of Spanish Baroque painters, and the austerity of his still life compositions. It is still a tribute through the art of photography to painters like Zurbarán, whom he admires.

This second facet of the exhibition opens in Aranda with the idea of touring other cities. The author, who for many years ran an art gallery in Burgos, explained that this collection of images it was posed as a challenge for the enhancement of the photographic still life. “I really like the classics of painting and I admired Zurbarán a lot, although I go more for contemporary painting and I had never seen an exhibition really classic still life photography”, the photographer details.

Due to the play that they give in these works, where the incidence of light is a primary element, eggs, generally raw, are a constant in their still lifes, although one of the compositions allows to pay homage to the fried egg. “I have played a lot with eggs in this exhibition,” says ‘Sacris’, explaining that it is an element that he likes in these compositions, allowing himself the wink in one of the works to remember his grandmother, who almost every night It offered fried eggs for dinner.
