Besiktas reports another eight coronavirus infections NOW

Besiktas reported on Thursday that another eight employees are infected with the corona virus. The Turkish top club does not reveal who it is, but it does state that players are involved.

On Wednesday, all players, staffers and office workers of the club were tested. The eight positive cases were quarantined and a treatment process was started immediately. Last Saturday, Besiktas reported a positive test from a player and a staff member.

34-time Orange international Jeremain Lens is active at Besiktas. The club from Istanbul is fifth in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Last week, it was announced that the Turkish league will resume on June 12. Most clubs then started training again in small groups, according to guidelines drawn up by the Turkish federation.

A staff member also tested positive at rival Fenerbahçe last week. That club then decided to cancel the training.

Istanbul is also the venue for the Champions League final, to be played at the end of August. The match will be played in the Atatürk Stadium, which does not have a regular player.
