Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, affecting many people, but did you know it can also appear in different areas of the body other than the face and hands?

In the following lines, we mention some unexpected places that develop skin cancer, according to “healthdigest” and webmd.

Under the nails:

Bunion occurs under the nail of the thumb and big toe, one of the most common areas, it is not due to sun exposure, so if you notice a dark line under the nail for no apparent reason, you should see a dermatologist.

handrest:

If you have dark skin, skin cancer can occur in areas of your body that aren’t exposed to sunlight, such as the palms of your hands and soles of your feet.

– Cover:

Excessive sun exposure is often the cause of skin cancer in this area. It can be removed surgically. If treated early, this type grows faster and spreads easily to the rest of the body.

– Scalp:

The tumors occur in the scalp, but are mostly non-cancerous. They appear as sores on the scalp or small soft waxy masses that may bleed or scab, so you should consult a specialist doctor if these symptoms persist for long periods.

Inside the ear:

Skin cancer outside the ear (squamous or basal cell) can spread inside the ear if left untreated, including in the ear canal that extends from the outer ear to the tiny bones in the middle ear.

– the tongue:

You may notice flat, hard, white patches that you can’t scrape or touch, or a lump or sore that doesn’t go away. These are usually caused by excessive smoking, so your doctor has to remove them surgically.

– lip:

Non-melanoma cancers, often basal cell or squamous cell carcinomas, are the ones that usually affect the lips, and again men get this type of cancer more often than women because they tend to consume more tobacco and alcohol.

The whites of the eyes:

Conjunctival melanoma is a cancerous growth of the conjunctiva, the membrane that covers the surface of the eye and the inner eyelid, and appears as a dark or red spot on the white of the eye.

They can be serious and can spread to other parts of the body through the lymph nodes or bloodstream, so your doctor wants to take a sample of tissue to look at under a microscope to determine whether or not it is cancer.
