Besançon Edition | Cancer League launches emergency appeal

The consequences of confinement also concern the League against Cancer. It forecasts a drop in donations close to 10 million euros nationwide. The Doubs committee is no exception to this observation. “We took stock after the confinement and listed the canceled events such as the sale of roses in March, Color Life in Besançon, numerous concerts, only one of which was postponed, but also the Round of Hope which not place. This represents a shortfall of almost 100,000 euros, ”explains Clémence Rozier.

Direct donations are also falling. “The usual donors are worried about them and their loved ones, or have preferred to help the nursing staff. All this is understandable. We hope our door-to-door operation in the fall will go well. We do not know how our representatives will be received and what it will give, ”continues Clémence Rozier.

These losses have a huge impact on the actions of the League. “We can give less to research (Editor’s note: € 266,000 in 2019). Our priority will go to our accompaniment and support service (Editor’s note: € 122,000 in 2019). We want to maintain this by drawing on our reserves. Other departmental committees are even more vulnerable than us and risk disappearing. The League is therefore launching an emergency appeal to help it compensate for its losses. Its actions of helping sick people and supporting research depend on it.
