Bernard-Docker stays in North Dakota | Senators | Sports | The right

LHis first-round pick in the 2018 draft decided to spend another season with the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks, calling GM Pierre Dorion on Friday to let him know.

“I just think the way the season has ended is not satisfying for most of us. For me personally, I think I have more to accomplish in college. With the players who will be back, it’s very exciting, ”Bernard-Docker told the Grand Forks Herald, in an interview while he was at his parents’ home in Alberta.

Author of seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points with a differential of plus-21 during the Fighting Hawks’ last season which was interrupted after they compiled a record of 26-5-4 (team ranked number one in the Pairwise ranking), Bernard-Docker didn’t have much to prove at this level after helping Canada win the gold medal at the last World Junior Hockey Championship.

In 2020-2021, Bernard-Docker should once again be a teammate of center Shane Pinto, the Senators’ second-round pick last year in the draft presented in Vancouver. He also had a great last season, being nominated for the Fighting Hawks rookie of the year award. However, he has not yet officially announced his intentions.

“There are still some aspects of my game that I want to improve,” added Bernard-Docker,

The University of North Dakota, however, will no longer be able to complete on Jonny Tychonick, the Senators’ second-round pick in 2018, the latter having announced his intention to transfer to another university.
