Bern: Car burns in garage – driver in hospital

Protection and Rescue Bern announced that several reports on the fire were received at 3:45 p.m. at the fire department’s operations control center. The fire department localized a burning car on the ramp to the garage. First aiders had already released the driver from the car and handed it over to the medical police.

The fire brigade had quickly extinguished the fire and was then able to concentrate on the smoke extraction from the garage and the stairwells of the high-rise building. Members of the cantonal police had cordoned off the damage site, redirected the traffic locally and started investigating the cause of the fire.

The medical police checked three people on site who had helped to rescue the driver from the danger zone, for inhalation of smoke gases. The helpers could be released. The medical police had previously taken the accident driver to the hospital. The vehicle hall was released shortly after 5 p.m. (SDA)
