Berlin: Thousands take part in a demo on the Landwehr Canal

The Berlin police had a demonstration on the Landwehr Canal ended on Sunday. Around 3000 people were in the top according to a message gathered there, on the shore and with rubber dinghies on the water. Due to complaints about loud music and a lack of compliance with the minimum clearances, the organizer finally stopped the action after talking to the police.

The first participants gathered on Sunday at 12.30 p.m. in Treptow harbor. From there the group started to move. Hundreds of people later came in inflatable boats, music was played, and speeches were also made, according to the police. The organizer has asked in vain to keep the distances. The applicant canceled the action at 5:35 p.m.

100 officers on duty

In addition to several inflatable boats, 20 large boats were also involved. This led the water protection police back to Treptow harbor. The Landwehr Canal was cleared around 9 p.m. Two boats from the water police and a hundred police officers were deployed.

The “Berlin newspaper“reports on the Facebook page”Rebellion of the dreamers“had been invited to take part in the campaign. There it says, among other things, that financial support for non-governmental cultural institutions such as clubs and festivals is required.

In the announcement it says: “The demonstration ban for Berlin has been lifted from May 30th! That means we can now officially invite you with canoes, rubber boats, or from the shore to participate in our (rave) culture rescue! Water demo!”
