Berlin Senate advises on the pandemic and solar systems – Berlin.de

The Senate will discuss how significantly more solar systems can be on Berlin’s roofs at its meeting on Tuesday (10:00 a.m.). For reasons of climate protection, red-red-green has long planned to significantly increase the share of solar power in energy consumption. It should grow to 25 percent by 2050 at the latest. This is the goal of the Solarcity master plan, which the Senate passed in March. On Tuesday, Senator for Economic Affairs Ramona Pop (Greens), who is also responsible for the energy sector, presented the draft of the “Berlin Solar Act”.

According to a spokesman for the economic administration, it regulates the construction and operation of solar systems in new buildings and extensive roof renovations in Berlin. Pop hopes that this will accelerate solar expansion. Another topic is the promotion of tourism in the current year. The economic administration provides information about the subsidies for tourism projects in the districts, which goes to the House of Representatives.

The topic of the corona pandemic will also play a role in the deliberations in view of the nationwide discussion about possible tightening of the corona measures. This includes the question of how vaccinations will be organized once the vaccine is available. So far it has not been known which groups of the population should be vaccinated first. On Monday, the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) sent a draft to the federal states and medical societies with suggestions.

Accordingly, it is recommended to first offer vaccinations to groups of people with a particularly high risk of serious or fatal disease progression – as well as groups who are particularly at risk at work or who have close contact with risk groups. The Senate must now deal with what these proposals mean for work in the Berlin vaccination centers.
