Béni Mellal – The Béni Mellal-Khénifra region saw in 2020 the launch of several major projects in the fields of education and health, the realization of which will certainly improve the services of these two vital sectors and fill the gaps. in terms of training and access to care.

These projects essentially aim to strengthen the local education offer with an investment of more than 2.2 billion dirhams and to promote health services, in particular through the creation of a medical center in the region with funding exceeding one. billion dirhams.

In the field of training, last September, construction work was launched on the city of trades and skills in Béni Mellal as well as two university centers in Azilal and Fkih Ben Saleh in addition to a series of schools. municipal, middle and modern high schools. And in terms of health, the region’s infrastructure has been strengthened by the construction and equipment of several hospitals as well as a new health center.

Regarding the city of trades and skills of Béni Mellal, it will be erected on an area of ​​15 hectares and will require an investment of nearly 340 million dirhams. It will be organized into 9 sectoral poles dedicated to the apprenticeship of trades that interest several areas including management, logistics, agro-food industries, crafts, construction and tourism.

Also at the level of training, it will proceed through the mobilization of funding of 100 million dirhams to the creation, in the province of Azilal, of a multidisciplinary university nucleus which will allow the students of this locality to pursue their studies. higher education without having to travel to other neighboring towns.

Also, a higher school of technology (EST) with an investment of 80 million dirhams is being built in Fkih Ben Saleh to offer the students of this city a specialized university teaching space to continue their studies.

By virtue of the partnership agreement signed on September 27, 2019 on the strengthening of the education offer in the region and the fight against school dropout, 22 municipal schools, 34 schools will be created. teaching, 850 classrooms in primary education as well as 1,531 other rooms and sanitary outbuildings in addition to the replacement of 1,800 prefabricated rooms.

Social support will also be reinforced, particularly in rural areas, through the creation of 17 boarding schools, 290 school canteens and the acquisition of 423 school buses.

Regarding the health sector, 2020 was marked by the start of implementation of the protocol of the partnership agreement signed on August 13, 2019 relating to the rehabilitation of the region’s health infrastructure with a envelope of the order of one billion dirhams.

In detail, this involves the construction and equipment in Béni Mellal of a new annex to the regional hospital center with a bed capacity of 250 beds with overall funding of 350 million dirhams, and a Provincial hospital center in Azilal with a capacity of 120 beds with an investment of 240 million dirhams.

It is also a question of the construction of a regional psychiatric hospital of 120 beds (70 million dirhams), and the construction in Béni Mellal of a clinic and a surgical center in oncology (100 million dirhams), a regional blood transfusion center (20 million dirhams) and an integrated regional center for nursing and health technicians (12 million dirhams).

The extension and equipment of the M’Rirt local hospital (65 million dirhams), the rehabilitation of the Hassan II provincial hospital in Khouribga (23 million dirhams) and the rehabilitation and equipment of the Oued Zem local hospital (12 million dirhams).

These various projects are part of efforts to improve the services and benefits provided to citizens, and to generalize quality health infrastructure in the region to remedy the gaps in the education and health sectors. health, whose indicators are below the national level.
