Earlier this week, the councilor was summoned by his party MR, an alliance of right-wing parties that falls under the liberal ALDE group in Europe, including the VVD, because he had threatened the police on social media.

Reintjens announced his presence at the festival on Facebook with a photo of himself bare-chested, with an ax in hand. “Bois de la Cambre, I’m coming”, It sounded, ‘Bois de la Cambre, I’m coming’. He also posted several messages stating, among other things, that he wanted to “break helmets.”

Party chairman Georges-Louis Bouchez condemned Reintjens’ behavior and the party started an exclusion procedure, which would normally end on Wednesday evening. But in the meantime, Reintjens has resigned himself, says Bouchez. “That’s the best given the circumstances. The behavior of the MR elected must be exemplary. ” The statements made by Reintjens are still under investigation by the Brussels judicial system.
