Becoming the world’s third largest unicorn, SpaceX achieves a valuation of Rp. 676.2 trillion

NEW YORK, KOMPAS.com – SpaceX, company space transportation owned by billionaire Elon Musk, continues to develop until its valuation value reaches 46 billion US dollars or around Rp 676.2 trillion (exchange rate of Rp 14,700 per US dollar).

Launch CNN, Friday (21/8/2020), valuation SpaceX increased after Musk managed to get funding worth 1.9 billion US dollars, or around Rp.27.9 trillion. This is at the same time the largest funding for any private company.

With this valuation, SpaceX now ranks third in the list of the largest startups in the world with titles unicorn, namely companies with a valuation of up to 1 billion US dollars.

The two other highest positions were occupied by companies from China, namely startup ride-hailing Didi Chuxing and ByteDance which are the parent company of TikTok.

However, SpaceX is not a company that is open to its financial information to the public, the investment it gets is negotiated behind closed doors. Company It does not have the obligation to report its finances like companies listed on the stock exchange.

Therefore, assessing SpaceX’s valuation is a hot topic of discussion among analysts. Some of them even considered that Musk’s company valuation estimate was still low than it actually was.

For example, an analysis from Morgan Stanley, which in a report said that SpaceX’s valuation could reach 200 billion US dollars or around Rp. 2,940 trillion if the company’s Starlink project was successful.

Starlink is a project that aims to provide high-speed internet to residents of the world. The company is targeting the delivery of 12,000 satellites to space for the Starlink project.

For the initial stage, the service is targeting the United States with SpaceX already placing about 400 satellites in low earth orbit or low earth orbit (LEO).

The lowest Morgan Stanley estimate of SpaceX’s valuation is around US $ 50 billion, or around Rp.735 trillion.

Musk’s company has made a lot of progress, apart from the Starlink project, SpaceX has also made history as the first private company in the world to send astronauts to the international space station (ISS).

SpaceX is also developing its Falcon rocket into a reusable space launch vehicle. This is different from the previous habit, namely that the rockets used for space are only single-use.

The company is also planning space adventures services, which are targeted to be carried out in the second half of 2021 with an estimated ticket price of tens of millions of dollars.
