The film ‘Grandparents’ is projected this Friday in the town of Beas de Segura. A film that arrives in the province after being released in Madrid in 2019 and not having been shown in Jaen cinemas due to Covid-19.
‘Abuelos’ by Santiago Requeja, who has been nominated for the Forqué and Goya awards, and who won the award for revelation director at the Círculo de Bellas Artes awards, is presented at Beas de Segura and will have a subsequent discussion. The deputy for Culture, Ángel Vera, explained that this action “aims to spread to different parts of the provincial geography.”
‘Abuelos’ is a comedy with a dramatic touch that talks about this group that is sometimes only doomed to take care of their grandchildren. He talks about the lack of communication between families, entrepreneurship and dreams, questioning the current model of society.
Its director, Santiago Requeja, affirms that it is a very special film for him since, in addition to being his debut feature, it has had a very experienced cast who have given him all their help. Likewise, it affirms that “the talent of men and women over 50 years old cannot be wasted as a country.”
The Encounters with Spanish Cinema already have 230 screenings behind him and add to the success of the Unpublished Spanish Film Show in whose last edition 12 films have been screened.
