The gendarmes intervened over the weekend in 12 cases to remove some bears that arrived in inhabited areas in Harghita County. One of the animals entered the kitchen of a hotel, and another on the platform of the station in Băile Tușnad.
According to the Harghita Gendarmerie, from Friday to Monday, 12 calls were received through 112, which signaled the presence of some bears in Băile Tușnad, Borsec and Toplița localities, informs News.ro.
Four calls were registered on Friday, three from Băile Tușnad resort and one from Borsec. A gendarmerie crew intervened at the calls from Băile Tușnad, and at Borsec, a public order crew consisting of a gendarme and a policeman. If in Băile Tușnad it was necessary for the bears to be removed outside the locality, in Borsec it was not found.
On Saturday, seven calls were registered, four from Băile Tușnad and three from Toplița.
The first call was made at midnight, and a bear cub was reported on the platform of the station in the resort, which was removed to the forest. The night ended with a call made by a man, signaling the presence of a bear cub in the kitchen of a hotel in Băile Tușnad. A public order crew, consisting of a police officer and a gendarme, managed to remove it from inside the building and remove it to the forest, outside the inhabited areas.
Three calls followed in a very short time, made from Toplița, starting with 13:00, being observed a bear moving through the courtyards of the houses, including the Mureș River. Both gendarmerie and police crews were sent to the scene, the bear finally leaving the area where it had been reported.
Saturday was ended by two calls made from Băile Tușnad, at a distance of two hours, in both cases the gendarmes removing the bears to the forest.
On Sunday, a call was registered in which a man signaled the presence of a bear near a hotel in Băile Tușnad. It was near a dumpster and fed on food scraps. The gendarmerie crew removed the bear to the forest.
