Beach Safety Warning: Strong Currents in Pyrénées-Atlantiques – Swim Between Guarded Posts

The Pyrénées-Atlantiques prefecture warns of the presence of particularly strong currents which could easily drag swimmers offshore during the days of Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 September. Every year swimmers are swept away and drown. For your safety, swim between the flags of the guarded posts.

Swimming on the Aquitaine coast is not without danger, in particular because of the baïnes and the waves on board which can surprise uninformed swimmers. In order not to take any risks, it is important to respect the road signs as well as the safety instructions, but also to favor the beach areas supervised by the lifeguards.

AS A REMINDER

Since August 28, bathing surveillance has evolved. Coastal rescuers remain mobilized on five beaches: Les Sables d’Or, La Petite Chambre d’Amour, Marinella, La Madrague and Les Cavaliers. Until September 10, they are open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Please note: Marinella beach will benefit from extended surveillance until November 5, every day continuously.

Until October 29, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Until November 5, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
