Bayern Munich extends contract trainer Flick by three years | NOW

Bayern Munich continues longer with Hans-Dieter ‘Hansi’ Flick. The trainer signed a new contract on Friday and is now tied to the current leader of the Bundesliga until mid-2023.

54-year-old Flick started as Niko Kovac’s assistant this season. The 48-year-old Croat was fired in early November because of the mediocre results, after which Flick succeeded him on an interim basis. Due to the good results under Flick, it was announced in December that he could finish the season as coach of Bayern Munich.

“I look forward to tackling the upcoming tasks with my staff and team,” said Flick on Bayern’s website. “The conversations with the management were very good and were characterized by great mutual trust. Together we set the course for the coming years. I am sure we can achieve a lot together.”

The management of Bayern Munich is also happy with the new contract for Flick. “The team has developed very well under him and plays attractive football, which is also reflected in the results. We are the only German club that is still represented in all three competitions,” said chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Bayern does not choose Ten Hag

With the new contract for Flick, the rumors about Erik ten Hag and Bayern seem to have come to an end. The Ajax coach has been linked several times to a transfer to the German club next summer.

It is not yet clear when Flick can get back to work with Bayern. The Bundesliga season will also be stopped until the end of April due to the corona crisis.
