Baum Festival: programming, tickets and artists of the event in Bogotá – Music and Books – Culture

When there are palpitations and the body moves to the rhythm of the music, it is because everything is fine at a party. Dopamine and endorphins are released, and the experience becomes unique. This Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, thousands of people will live two unrepeatable nights: after two years, the Baum Festival returns, the most important electronic event in the country.

This event is part of the reactivation of concerts and festivals in Colombia. After the success of Baum Park, in Medellín, where there was even a surprise act at Orquideorama, and the opening dance with Amelie Lens, the sixth edition of the ‘rave’ —as this type of meeting is known— It will take place in Corferias, in the heart of Bogotá, a place that will be adapted to receive more than 40,000 lovers of techno, house and all electronic music.

“We are exceeding expectations. Baum Festival deserved it. It will be something comfortable and pleasant for people. The experience will be different”, says Hernán Cayetano, one of the creators of the event. He adds: “It will be a change that people will like. Corferias, the place and the technical deployment is for people to enjoy”.

Philippe Siegenthaler, booker of Páramo Presenta, agrees on this: “The greatest expectation is to do the event again. It will be the largest in our history and for the first time, two days. Corferias will give us another festival perspective. There will be more than 20,000 everyday people. We’re definitely looking forward to getting back on the dance floor.”

In 2020, it was going to be held on May 16, but due to the pandemic it was postponed. It was first postponed to December 19 of that year and then to May 2021. After several months of waiting, the music event, organized by Baum and Páramo Presenta, will return to Bogotá this weekend.

In total, there will be five adapted scenarios. The main one will be Heineken. There will also be the usual ones, Baum and Páramo, and there will be an additional stage each day led by Sensor, on May 20, and Insurgentes, on May 21, two groups from the most relevant electronic scene in the country.

More than 70 acts will perform at the Baum Festival, something that has not happened before in the country. It is one of the biggest bets in the history of the event, which began in the north of Bogotá with a poster headed by Dubfire. The stakes for this year are very high and quite varied. Presentations will start at 1:30 p.m. m until 3:00 in the morning. Doors will open at 1:00 pm on Friday and noon on Saturday.

“There will be artists who dominate the global scene today and who have played on the biggest stages in the world,” says Siegenthaler. Adam Beyer arrives from Sweden, one of the most recognized producers and DJs on the scene in the world, who will be one of those in charge of closing the first day. There will also be the German Ellen Allien, founder of the record label BPitch Control; Ben UFO, co-founder of the London label Hessle Audio; Digitalism, the German duo who became famous 15 years ago for ‘Pogo’; Anna, the Brazilian who recently conquered the Ultra Music Festival; Stephan Bodzin, the renowned German musician and producer who has composed for several European theaters and has played on the main stages, and the British Dax J, who was in the country six years ago and has positioned himself in the industry.

Something that has been commented on social networks and that has been recognized is the female presence on the poster. In addition, many await the arrival of Booka Shade, a German duo made up of Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger, recognized as ‘veterans’ of the Frankfurt electronic scene. They will close the Páramo stage on the second day. Len Faki, the German-Turkish DJ and producer, will also wrap up the Heineken stage performances on Saturday, May 21.

Many also expect to see ARTBAT, the techno duo from kyiv that couldn’t attend the La Solar festival at the beginning of the year due to flight problems. The Italian DJ Sam Paganini, the German duo PAN-POT, the Polish production company VTSS, the Italian duo Mathame, the Danish producer Kölsch and the Brazilian Victor Ruiz, are among the guests.

Similarly, on Friday May 20 there will be Deaf Pillow, Pablo Romero, Denis Sulta, System Below, Don G, Sonico, Paula Vélez, Nene H, Daria Kolosova, KI/KI, Temaki, Filippo, Kruz, Steven Guberek, Eli Escobar, Shanti Celeste, Jan Blomqvist, Andhim, Matt Cano, Damaged Clock, Andhray, RÖUGE, Koslov, Somewhen, and MSNTRPH.

The main novelty is that the tickets that were purchased for the 2020 event can be used to enter the event on Saturday, May 21. People who have digital tickets will be able to present them at the entrance with the qentro application. The organizers recommend not buying on resale.

As another novelty: a space for jazz will be set up, where there will be a tribute to Antonio Arnedo, the teacher, musician and composer from Bogotá who has been decisive in the development of the genre in the country. Independent artist Duplat will be playing at this venue both days. “There will be artists for everyone, big stages and a production like never before at this festival,” says Hernán Cayetano.

Only empty plastic thermos can be brought in to recharge with drinks inside the festival. The VIP area will have special bathrooms, rest areas and an exclusive space on the front side of each stage. From the general area you can also access the front of each place.

The Secretariat for Women of Bogotá will have a physical space in Corferias and a Purple Line enabled to deal with cases and concerns related to the safety of women. A campaign called ‘Safe track’ is being worked on so that there is no harassment, abuse or aggression at the event. “We want to ensure a safe dance floor. We think of all women and the entire community,” explains Philippe Siegenthaler.

Échele Cabeza will also be there, with whom the organizers have implemented ‘Water, as a vital minimum for life’ for people who need to hydrate during the Baum Festival and cannot buy a drink.

There will be no ‘cashless’ system, which means that all purchases can be made with cash and a debit or credit card. There will be several parking lots enabled near the place.
