“I am proud, touched and honored. I hope that this honor is also a signal for others to do voluntary work,” said the honoree, who brought his father Karl-Josef and his sister Anne with him. The laudation was given by Dirk Happe, head of the school administration and sports office of the city of Paderborn and long-time companion of Schloss. A first excerpt from it: “His mother motivated him to go to basketball training for the first time in 1977, and later the Lippstadt native followed the call of Martin Krüger and Hans-Peter Götz to join the basketball team.”
