Basketball, NBA | Slovenian Luka Doncic (21) set new NBA records

Passed both Michael Jordan and “Magic” Johnson with a raw performance against the top team.

DALLAS MAVERICKS – MILWAUKEE BUCKS 136-132 e.f.

Slovenian Luka Doncic (21) is only in his second season as an NBA pro, but his big game continues to break records in the world’s most prestigious basketball league.

The Dallas Mavericks profile contributed 36 points, 14 rebounds and 19 assists in the close battle against the strong big team Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night.

With double-digit numbers in all three mentioned categories, Docic completed a so-called “triple-double” for the 17th time this season.

He is thus the youngest player in NBA history to have managed that number in the same season. The 21-year-old has broken the almost 40-year-old former record Los Angeles Lakers legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson stood for all the way back in the 1980-81 season.

Doncic also secured the record against the Bucks, the team that has the best defensive statistics in the NBA, and which has secured the playoffs for a long time. Milwaukee also has the status of the top seed in the upcoming playoffs.

– A great artist

– I had paid to see him play. Luka is not just a great basketball player. He is a great artist, says Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle after the incredible show from Doncic.

The young Slovenian secured his third “triple-double” in the last five matches. Coach Carlisle does not hesitate to compare the 21-year-old with several of the sport’s truly great legends.

– He knows where everyone is on the field, not only in attack, but also in defense. It’s a hallmark of a guy who’s educated. I played with Larry Bird, and he saw everything that happened in the same way. I got the honor of coaching Jason Kidd, and he could see the same thing, Dallas’ coach continues.

With the effort against the Bucks, Luka Doncic also became the youngest player to have collected at least 35 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists in the same match. The previous record belonged to none other than Michael Jordan, informs Statmuse on Twitter.

The longtime Chicago Bulls star was 170 days older than Doncic when he achieved the feat in January 1985.

Great pickup

The Mavericks were eleven points behind the Bucks Sunday night, but a period of 16 straight points in the fourth half helped ensure extended playing time.

There, Doncic and his teammates landed the victory with 136-132, among other things after an excellent blind pass that the youngster sent perfectly to Max Kleber between his own legs.

Kleber followed up by knocking in 133-128 when there were 1.08 minutes left on the clock.

Due to the situation with a risk of infection for covid-19, all matches take place with teams that still have the opportunity to secure a place in the playoffs in the same place.

22 teams are gathered to play at the Disney World Resort outside Orlando, Florida.
