Status: December 31, 2021 4:03 p.m.

The BG Göttingen won the basketball Bundesliga pursuit duel against Ulm. Alba Berlin showed no nakedness against Würzburg.

Göttingen won the last second at ratiopharm Ulm on Thursday (December 30th, 2021) with 88:86 (43:39) and climbed to third place. The Lower Saxony had recently lost 14 games in a row against Ulm, the previous victory was in October 2014.

A lay-up by Kamar Baldwin with the final siren ensured the Göttingen’s fifth win in a row. Only league leaders Telekom Baskets Bonn (nine wins) can present a longer series in the Bundesliga.

Ninth BBL victory in a row: Bonn marches on

And Bonn, too, rushes from victory to victory. The 89:83 (53:40) against the Löwen Braunschweig was already the ninth success in a row for the team of coach Tuomas Iisalo, who had replaced Bayern Munich at the top of the league on Christmas Day. Jeremy Morgan was Bonn’s best thrower with 24 points, and the guests from the middle of the table never turned out to be a real threat. The baskets have not lost since mid-October.

Crailsheim climbs up

The Hakro Merlins Crailsheim (9: 5) made a big jump to fourth place in the table with a 92:82 (50:41) success at the Niners Chemnitz (8: 5). The Belgian Elias Lasisi was outstanding among the guests with a total of 29 points. Chemnitz only showed a better performance in the fourth quarter (23:18) and had its best thrower in Trent Lockett (16 points).

For the newcomer MLP Academics Heidelberg, who started the season so well, it was the ninth defeat in a row. At the Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt the Heidelberg team lost 82:87 (32:32) and are now level with the Hessians in the table with 8:20 points.

Berlin ends the year with a home win

In the last BBL game in 2021, Alba Berlin finally scored an undisputed 96:61 (55:32) against Würzburg on New Year’s Eve and consolidated fourth place in the table. For the team of coach Israel Gonzalez it was the fourth competitive success in a row.

Against the relegation candidate from Würzburg, who lost all of the eight most recent games, Berlin’s Marcus Eriksson was the best thrower with 17 points. Alba had already cleared 19 points after the first quarter.
