The Spanish football club Barcelona and the Italian flagship Turin Juventus have made a remarkable deal.
Both clubs on Monday announced that Juventus had bought 23-year-old midfielder Artur Mel from Barcelona for 72 million euros. If all the bonus conditions included in the agreement are met, the Turin team will have to pay an additional 10 million euros.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will acquire 30-year-old Miralem Pianic, whose Spanish team will buy for 60 million.
Arthur will sign a five-year contract with Juventus and earn a much higher salary than the Barcelona unit, ESPN reports. Already at the end of last week, the Brazilian Arthur had arrived in Turin to undergo medical examinations.
In 2018, Barcelona bought Arturu for 30 million euros from the Brazilian club Gremio. He was initially compared to legendary Barcelona midfielder Ksavi, but sources from within the team at ESPN have revealed that members of the team felt Arthur had failed to make progress over the past year.
