Ban on Ashura festivities in Beni Mellal


The authorities of the Wilaya of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region decided on Saturday to ban any festivity linked to the celebration of Achoura, in the context of the implementation of national measures aimed at curbing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This decision provides for the prohibition of all festivities and ceremonial rituals organized on the occasion of Ashura 1442 at the regional level, in particular, the visit of cemeteries, campfires + chouala +, gatherings and folk songs in the neighborhoods, gatherings of all kinds, adults or children, as well as the use of firecrackers and all other activities associated with the celebration of this occasion.

The competent authorities of the region have mobilized to reprimand the offenders and avoid any excesses linked to the Ashura festivities as well as the violation of the preventive measures taken by the competent authorities of the Kingdom in the light of the state of health emergency decreed by the country.

Thus, the local authorities call on the inhabitants of the region to adhere to the measures and to collective and individual respect for this prevention decision, to regularly wear protective masks, to respect physical distancing and to avoid crowds and gatherings, all to contain the spread of the resurgent pandemic.
