Marina del Pilar Avila Olmedagovernor of Baja California, announced that as of this April 25, the use of mouths will be optional.
“The use of the face mask in closed spaces will be optional. There will no longer be an obligation to use it in any public space, whether open or closed,” said the governor in a video posted on her social networks.
My Baja Californians! Thanks to everyone’s efforts, I want to announce that starting tomorrow, the use of COVERS will be OPTIONAL in any space.

Ávila Olmeda said that he took this measure due to the drop in infections and deaths that have been registered in recent weeks; however, he invited citizens to continue taking care of themselves through vaccination, as it is the best way to control the virus.
According to state figures, at the end of this April 23, the active cases of COVID-19 in the entity are 95, while deaths reached a total of 2 thousand 686.
With this measure, Baja California joins Nuevo León, Colima, Coahuila and Mexico City where measures regarding the use of face masks have also been relaxed.
